Hi Chaps,
what say thee to a rematch in April? Same toys, same rules, few changes
apart from

3 simultaneous commands to keep the tempo up......
Velites VBU raised from 2 to 3 as they were seriously underpowered last time out
an extra infantry or elephant unit for the Carthaginian centre to compensate for the extra Roman VBU (Not sure of what yet - although seeing as Dave I kindly gave me a few Carthaginian vets last week I can see another base of those bad boys joining the fray ;) Thanks Dave)

Joint call for the date although I'm good to go anytime first suggestion is the week after the 7YW weekend? but good to go next week even - especially if it means tanning the hides of those Roman skirt and girlie pant wearing buffties.

Cheers
Dax

On the basis that the only good Carthaginian is a dead Carthaginian, us Romans will happily take up the challenge of restoring the Punic faction to well merited obscurity..........

Suggested tweaks make great sense to me -- happy to go with this!

I'm afraid that I cannot make either 8th of April (in Bute) or 22 April (in Brora), but other dates are clear for me. The archaeological field-work begins to kick-in from Easter onwards ie when I'm not likely to be buried in a 10ft snow drift or frozen by a minus 25 degree temperature in the deepest recesses of the Highlands. I'm afraid that 22nd was when you were thinking, but could we do it on the 15th ?????????
Regards

Ahh gentlemen, the waft of Roman Hircismus is killing me!… Begone! Before though art bescumbered - you latin cacafuegos.

On the bright side you are looking somewhat meretricious today! :Jules: :Jules:

The only good Roman was Polanski - and look what he's been up to!

Rematch it must be (there are just too many good insults out there to miss the opportunity), hopefully we can get a date organised on Thursday!

Okay chaps, gird thy loins, sharpen your insults and prepare the Beagles of War! :D :D :froth:
The Carthaginian re-match is on for Thursday, 1st April (hey, hey the opportunity for seasonal pranks as well - maybe Kavan can field some bazooka toting ninja heffalumps!)
Modifications as previously described, three separate commands per side - Roman Velites upgraded , the additional unit for Carthage will be a particularly odious Gallic warband. :o
No quarter will be asked (or given)
Jack, your additional Ellies would again be greatly appreciated!
Long live the son's of Carthage :drunk:
Hanibal Barca Decibal Dax (with adjutants Tinkerbal and Creampuffbal) ;)
PS
Romans and Numidians smell
especially, Skipio, Lurkio and Fifieo  ;)

Well my fine puny Punic friends -- April 1st it is!! How awesomely appropriate............

Bring on the velites newly upgraded, the heffalumps singing and dancing, and the smelly Gauls (leave that garlic alone..........). I'm hoping, Dax, that you can bring fresh sheets to replace the last blood-spattered ones?

Myself, and the noble Jackius and Dimrius look forward to an evening of high-brow cerebral entertainment (probably followed by much weeping and gnashing of teeth).

Enjoy America -- you may find this phrase useful: "Die dulci fruere".......Have a nice day.......

Okay chaps, fear not I have survived the trip across the pond, although I will have to use the thigh master for a few days to burn off the extra poundage brought on by the large portions forced upon me on my travels. And, seeing as we are only facing Romans this week, the thighmaster is probably the greater challenge!
The troops are boxed up and I'll be working on the updated lists this PM, will send them over once I have finished tweaking. Jim, I might well take your advice and bring the Veterans more into the centre if we are playing separate commands, pushing the Gauls etc out to the flanks with the cavalry- but with only 4 heffalump units, still probably best to deploy them on the wings. (I still want to make a game of it as the good guys got completely flanned, gubbed and cream egged on the day!)
Incidentally, given that the Impetus balance for Carthage is more than slightly "European" campaign biased, perhaps we can work up a Cannae between us for a future battle using the upgraded Carthaginians in fewer numbers against greater numbers of "raw" legions to balance the VBU a bit - even if I prefer my legions fully cooked, basted and with a knob of garlic butter
( unless anyone fancies a byzantine scenario with lots of lovely Steppe, Turks and Mamelukes?)
Good to be back - New York was bleedin' freezing!
Cheers
Dax
