Hi chaps,
Falkirk Wargames Club have been in touch with an invite to us all. They are holding an Impetus tournament on Sunday 22nd April at the Newlands Community Centre in Grangemouth - where they usually play. It will be an all day thing, so plenty of games - 3 games each against different opponents - very like Whitburn last year.
Dave Knight from FWC is making the arrangements, so if you are interested, just let him or I know so we can get an idea of numbers for the games.
Should be a lot of fun :drunk:
I'll post up more details once they are available, but everybody is more than welcome. Any questions just drop me a line.
Cheers
Dax

Yep - all of the new 2012 tournament 25/28mm 300 point competition rules will apply to all of the Scottish events, this includes halving both the maximums and minimum allowable numbers of troops for 300 point games -400 point 15mm games are not affected.
Basically, although it will mean that quite a few of last years armies have to be rethought (or in a couple of cases pretty much scrapped) there should be more of a historical feel to the games that are played. Initially, I was opposed to this change, but having play tested it a few times actually, I have come around to it as it affects all players equally and leads to more thought having to go into the army composition.
The changes also include paying full points values for discipline C troops in the rear ranks of large units - this is mainly to reduce the possibility of some of the Dark Age armies fielding excessive numbers of cheap, high VBU large units with long spear and shieldwall
There is also a new way of choosing who is attacking and defending - using "scouting points"
All of the new rules are here
http://www.dadiepiombo.com/tr2012.pdf
The only competition not using them this year of which I am aware, is York this weekend, as the changes came out too late for army lists to be changed for the event.
I've posted more about the FWC event in the Impetus section - it would be great if plenty of SESWCERS were to join in 8-)

Just catching up on the club forum. Unfortunately I'll be asleep as my shift pattern has changed to Fri, Sat, Sun, Monday.
Good news about the maxs, Lorenzo has finally seen the light.

Hi Jack, pity you can't make it over to grangemough for April - hope you can join in some of the other games we are having.
The min/max halving at 300 points is a move forward, I was a bit worried that people would get a bit peeved about having to change armies or add units - fact of the matter is, most players are always faffing about with their armies and adding new units anyway, this just gives us a bit of motivation! On the downside, one of my favourite armies is now consigned to the cupboard until we have a saladin at the gate campaign game!
the max/min change is optional and at the discretion of organisers - but it makes no sense to not include it for all tournaments - or we would be fannying about with army lists from here to eternity!
What I am finding is that the changes and the new scouting points system do seem to lead to better thought out armies and games which is a real bonus, so looks like everyone's a winner!
I can't make it over tonight to the club but will defintely be up next week so might be worth trying the changes out, or putting on a bigger game with multiple commands (a refight of Zama perhaps) if anyone fancies it.
Cheers
Dax

Hi chaps, here is the link to the details of the game to be held next month at Grangemouth
http://impetus.forumsland.com/impetus-about3161.html
Full details to be posted but it will be 25/28mm, 3 games, fixed terrian, armies grouped by period, 2012 tournament rules

Dave B I put you on the list provisionally so that there is a spot for you if you can make it over as there are already over a dozen wanting to come - a couple not up on the site yet - but plenty of room for anyone who wants to come along - the hall can easily hold more than 20 players.

I have heard a scurulous rumour that there will be a buffet supplied as well.

Cheers
Dax

Hi chaps,
Last chance to join in on Sunday for what should be a most enjoyable bash - if you are coming along, and haven't already confirmed, can you pass your lists to me as soon as possible.
There are armies available if anyone wants to play but doesn't have the figs.
Cheers
Dax

Hi Dax

Just to wish you a good and fun day.

As you know, competitions are not really my thing, and I'll be in Strachur in any case. However, i do hope you have a grand day oot. In addition, I hope that we'll see you at the club shortly, and that all is well with you and yours.

Do let us know when you might next get across.

Best regards
Donald
