Hi All

Just checked with Martin and he is going to the Hearts Euro qualifier which is on Thursday 4 August: so he'll miss our Impetus nonsense.

Scott may want to join in with us in lieu of Martin??

Best regards
Donald

Sounds like a sterling idea Mr Finn, and of course, Scott will have a much better chance of a result than Hearts.......
I'll bring in my medieval Polish/German mercenaries (who may look surprisingly Milanese) with the Ottomans for Justin and I am assuming that you have more than enough toys to cover 600 points of WOTR/Italian wars French/Spanish
Cheers

Hi Dax

Yup indeedy let's do as you suggest.

I will bring 300 pts of Lancastrian "mercenaries" (obviously sunning themselves in Italian exile in the 1470s or 80's), and team them with 300 pts of Spanish in Italy. Call it the defence of Trieste from Ottoman incursion and we are dangerously close (but not quite) to being "in period"...... Cries of horror :lol :lol

Poor Martin: we can only hope that the Hearts do him proud on Thursday. They are marked as favourites which spells disaster for Scotland.............

just to add flavour to the event, The Ottoman's may bring some Mongol/Timurid allies for the battle of Trieste rather than Europeans - which would make for a VERY interesting East vs West match up! :froth:

Gents,

Olivier, Brian, Ian and myself will be doing a doubles game: know doubt keeping a weather eye on how the other armies perform ;) (given that they are the ones being fielded come September :?: )

Cheers,

John.

Hi John, true indeed for Justin and Donald, however, I wont be using the Timurids for the comp - and I believe, after a fairly good showing last time out, ERM (Steve) has changed his mind about bringing the Timurids up - I'm not sure if the hostages option with 0 VD was considered gamey :?: it certainly wasn't popular with some... :(
I will probably be fielding Dacians - not because they are any good, (they are rubbish actually... :? ) but because I found an article on the interweb that suggests that the modern spelling would be Daxians! Apparently it is not a soft c as in "lace" but a glutteral "och" sound - as in Loch, which is now represented with an x when translated from the original Greek  :geek: :ugeek:
Seeing as we all know that everything posted on the internet is absolutely true (unless it is that thing about the hamsters, they just crawled in, honest    ) it is good enough for me, and Daxia it is :drunk:

Folks,

The only army I have in 25mm are the Arabs which are possibly based for any one of about four sets of rules. I doubt they will be "Impetus" ready. I was sort of hoping someone could be nice enough to lend a Roman Army of some sort.

I will bring along army lists rules etc with me but don't arrive until Thursday morning on the overnight bus. The idea was to travel as light as possible

Scott

Hi Scott,
I have an Imperial/Cesarian Roman army which you may borrow any time, based up for Impetus. On Thursday, though, I think the generals hat which is reserved for you belongs to one of Nogfin's dubious medieval impetus armies - French/Spanish fifteenth/sixteenth century types, we can have a go with unwashed barbarian and roman types next week if you are still game 8-)

Hi Scott

No worries for this week. Just turn up with dice, measuring tape, and set of rules if you have them (no matter if not).

I will provide you with a circa 1500AD Spanish in Italy army (and army list) -- which is essentially pikes/heavy cavalry plus some light horse.

This will be a very trivial game where we will be stopping on a regular basis to explore the vagaries of the rules, bicker, drink and generally reflect on how unfair are the dice.....

By the way, you've got no chance this week as I am playing with my losing (but beautifully painted/ heraldry correct) Lancastrians. We are playing as a combo against hordes of unwashed Ottoman types, and beware the Janissaries -- Justin and Dax have them cunningly concealed as scruffy bashi-bazouk types but in fact they have arquebuses (should that be arquebi??), and come in at a scary 6 VBU with three for Impetus and they are classed as T !! :o :o (To be fair [why :lol ] they do cost 33 pts, and were probably the best infantry in Europe at the time)

Best regards
Donald
