Hi chaps,
I was just browsing throgh eBay at the weekend, and found myself looking for 1/72nd ancient britons (and romans) from Airfix - not for any logical resaon - can't think I'd ever use them for a game, but because I remember them fondly as the first boxes of soldiers I ever got (small child, unwrapping the boxes at Christmas, soft plastic, funny shade of reddy brown, chariots aah the nostalgia) I was wondering two things -
first of all, if you know of anyone who has a pile of them hiding in a drawer somewhere and wants rid of them I'm happy to offer them a happy home (Scottish rules apply, I am a cheap bugger and will want change from a groat!)
second thing was, what tugs at your heart strings when you see it now - old essex ranges, early versions of warhammer?
I'm off now, dreaming of jumpers for goal posts and I have to take my Virol

Nostalgia, I'll give you nostalgia.

I have a complete army, fully painted and based of Airfix Ancient Britons (and Romans for that matter) buried somwhere in my loft unless the plastic has biodegraded into a pile of crumbs. They looked fine about 10 years ago or so when I last looked in the box.

I know that HAT still produce the same Ancient Britons in the same crappy brown plastic 'cos I've got a box of them in me cupboard. They must have acquired the moulds or the masters. £4.50 out of Wonderland a good few years ago.

We were too poor when I was a lad to afford jumpers for goal posts so we used to mug the local tramps when a game of footie was on! :lol

Tough, you don't know tough, we had to milk the cat for our breakfast cereal - he used to get really annoyed

as always, just hunting for a bargain or a discard, I've seen quite a few places where I might be able to get the figs although some of the ebay entries
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Airfix-Vintage-Model-Kit-Scale-OO-Roman-Fort-Type-2-/200584714018?pt=UK_Toys_Games_ToySoldiers_EH&hash=item2eb3c7d722
scared me  :o and that's after discount - AND one has been sold!

We all had one of these - I think I sat on mine in 1976 :(
