I have recently been sorting through boxes of old papers and photographs left to me after my mother died. Some concerned my grandfather's time through WWI. He started in TA with Highland Cyclist Battalion in 1914, and then transferred to the Machine Gun Corps in early 1916, where he was in 26 Company, attached to 26 (Highland) Brigade, 9 Scottish Division. He collected photographs that he found blowing around the battlefield, and returned any with addresses to their families after the war, whether in Britain or Germany. There were four that he was unable to return, and these were placed in his family album. I would like to know more about them, and if possible make an effort to return them to their descendants, although this may be impossible.

There is a British soldier, a British officer, a German soldier and what I think is an Austrian soldier. They were most likely picked up at Passchendaele in late 1917.
