I have finally bought a game I read about some time ago.

Napoleons triumph is by Simmonsgames and is a superb bit of kit having received it today.

I think I may have persuded John G to try a game one day and Brian said yes when I caught him in a weak moment. :o ;) :P

:geek: If you wish to know more there is an excellent web site at http://www.simmonsgames.com/

You can also downloand the rules at http://www.simmonsgames.com/products/Au ... Rules.html

The board is very nice and rather large. Nifty wooden pieces and the rules do not look overly complicated. Comes with two sets of rule bookets which is a good idea for a two player game!

Anyway have a look at the game on the web site and let me know if you fancy a game some time either at the club or for the WAB boys perhaps a home game one evening or week end.

JP,

will print out the rules later on today, and yes, am certainly keen to have a go at this.

Cheers,

John.

JP,

I thought you got this from a site in the UK?

Cheers,

:geek: I have found two things we got wrong when playing on Thursday:-

1. Corps Commands - The Corps commander can give two commands in a turn. He can first detach a unit from the corps. This detached unit would not move. The corp and its commander can then make a normal corps move that turn. Once the corps has moved a unit command can be given to the detached unit and it can move on its own -this would count as an independant unit move.

If the Corps commander just wanted to detach a unit and move it, he would then just do corps command of detatch and move the detached single unit. Whilst this counts as corp command you would not use up a unit move (all commands are valuable for the allies!)

Find this on page 4 under 9.commands - Corps move.

2. Morale page 9, section 13. morale. - It is only the losing army in an attack that takes hits on its morale and also for retreats. The attacking army does not suffer any morale loses for strength loses. It would suffer morale losses for things like committing the guard etc.

One other thing I have noticed in 16.winning the game - as well control of objective locales/stars the army needs to be able trace a path by road to a main road reinforcement entry locale (allies have 2, french only have 1) This makes defence of these areas vital as well as the objective star locales.

Anyway sure there are some more rules I have not understood yet! :geek: :o

When you are up for a replay with the same sides, but full game, give me a shout - Tuesday evening is fine or a weekend.

John,

this makes more sense now: simply saying a corps commander can either detach a unit or move is very limiting indeed.

Again this 'feels' correct. I think we were perhaps a little too aggressive on Thursday evening, and should have played to get more used to the rules that trying for a vicory :?:

John, would love a reply, but weekends are out, this Tuesday should be okay, but I'll get back to you later on tonight to confirm. I have to get some figures ready for Thursday  but should be able to do that on Wednesday evening if I burn some midnight oil tonight :D :D

Cheers,

John.
